Warm-up
Marching, arm circles, torso twists, ankle rolls — wakes the body up before load.
Beginner fitness · no equipment
A 20-minute bodyweight routine built for people who have genuinely never worked out before — no jargon, no setup, and an easier and more effective version of every move.
Stand on any clear patch of floor, follow the 5-move circuit below for 20 minutes, twice a week to start. That's the entire beginner program — everything past this point is just detail and support.
Why bodyweight, why beginners
Squats, push-ups and bridges use your own weight as resistance, so there's no equipment to buy, calibrate, or put away. Most beginner guides skip straight to the workout and assume you already know what a "circuit" or a "set" is. This one doesn't.
The 20-minute structure
Marching, arm circles, torso twists, ankle rolls — wakes the body up before load.
5 moves, 40 sec work / 20 sec rest, repeated for 2–3 rounds: squat, incline push-up, standing march, glute bridge, dead bug.
Quad and hamstring stretches, child's pose, slow breathing — brings your heart rate back down.
"I've run this exact routine myself, three times a week, for two months — the easier versions are there because I needed them too on week one."
— Notes from building this routine
General fitness guidance, not medical advice. Recommendations for frequency and pacing follow common guidance from bodies like the NHS physical activity guidelines. Check with a doctor before starting a new routine if you have any health conditions.
Common questions
Rushing through reps, holding your breath, and skipping the warm-up or cooldown. Slow down, breathe out on the effort, and don't skip the 3-minute warm-up.
Twice a week is a strong, sustainable starting point. Once that feels easy, add a third session.
It burns calories, and more importantly builds the habit of moving consistently — pair it with realistic eating and enough sleep for the best results.
